Social Media - October 2023

Dear Parents

As the Headteacher of NCJPS, I am writing to you today to address a matter of utmost importance concerning our children's well-being.

At present, the situation in Israel is receiving extensive coverage in the news and on various social media platforms. While it is crucial for us to stay informed about global events, we have a responsibility to protect our children from being exposed to distressing or inappropriate material that could prove to be damaging to their emotional well-being.

As such, I would kindly request that you take an active role in monitoring your children's access to social media, especially platforms such as Tik Tok. Allowing unrestricted access to these platforms may inadvertently expose them to content that is unsuitable for their age and level of maturity. It is essential for parents to be aware of the recommended age restrictions for social media platforms, as many are designed for older users and may not be suitable for primary-age children. Please click on the link below for some additional guidance.

Talking to your child about social media

By actively engaging with your children and closely supervising their online activities, we can create a safe and healthy digital environment for them. This will enable them to enjoy the benefits of technology while minimising exposure to potentially harmful content.

Lastly, I would like to reiterate that our thoughts remain with the people of Israel during these challenging times. If you or your child need any additional support or have concerns regarding this issue or any other matter, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. We are here to assist and support you in any way we can.

Thank you for your attention to this matter and for your continued cooperation.

Kind regards

Michael Woolf
